A Town U18 side beat Whitton United 4-3 in an entertaining match at the King George V Playing Field on Saturday afternoon. Jon Leddy (pictured) put Town ahead before goals from Chris Williams and Kevin Inglis gave the hosts the lead. Jack Simmons and Elliot Scotcher then restored Town’s advantage before Marcus Josiah equalised, prior to an unfortunate own goal from Robbie Knott giving the Blues’ youngsters the win.

Boss Paul Jewell seems likely to stick with the team which was unlucky to lose 2-1 to Wolves last week when Town take on Bristol City in their opening game of the season at Ashton Gate on Saturday. The Blues manager has a full squad to choose from with no one missing due to pre-season knocks.

Town fell to their second disastrous East Anglian derby defeat of the season as Norwich left Portman Road having beaten the Blues by a convincing 5-1 scoreline. An Arran Lee-Barrett error led to Andrew Surman’s opener, then a Gareth McAuley own goal increased the Canaries’ lead. Simeon Jackson added Norwich’s third, Jimmy Bullard pulled one back but Russell Martin and Daniel Pacheco added the fourth and fifth late on.

Town boss Paul Jewell says he’ll pick his Town side for tonight’s East Anglian derby against Norwich after training this morning having assessed the fitness of midfielder Grant Leadbitter, left-back Mark Kennedy and a couple of unnamed additional doubts. Leadbitter suffered a head injury at Bristol City on Saturday, while Kennedy missed the trip to Ashton Gate with a tight hamstring.

A Grant Holt hat-trick condemned 10-man Town to a disastrous 4-1 defeat to Norwich at Carrow Road. Holt appeared to handle the ball in the run-up to the opening goal, but Town struck back through Delaney soon after. Holt added his second before Delaney was red-carded for hauling down the Norwich skipper, then after the break Holt netted his third and sub Wes Hoolahan completed the scoring.
